Sunset and Jellyfish at Mumbles

The original plan for this evening was to head to the cinema to see Spiderman Homecoming, but the weather was too glorious to be wasted in a darkened room, so instead my friend and I decided on an evening stroll around Mumbles.

Just outside of Swansea, Mumbles is delightful little town with a seafront promenade offering gorgeous views over Swansea Bay. It's an easy walk, with plenty of bars and eateries to help you wile away the hours whilst enjoying the stunning views.

The pier jutting out into the sea is an excellent end point, with picturesque views of the distinctive Mumbles lighthouse to the right, and the city of Swansea to the left.

An added surprise were these summer visitors, a mass of barrel jellyfish, clustered all around the pier and easily the size of beach balls. I have to admit I found them fascinating and grotesque in equal measure.

I'm doing a paddle boarding taster session next week, if I fall in and come face to 'face' with one of these suckers I will not be happy!

Mumbles is definitely at it's most attractive with the tide in, and this evening it was timed beautifully to reflect the sunset. We ambled back along the front, unable to resist a pit stop at Verdi's, the place for a sundae. An easy walk and a lovely relaxed evening.
